Ayahuasca ceremonies

Ayahuasca is a very old plant medicine from the Amazon, which falls under the entheogens. Entheogen is another word for "in contact with God", which can be interpreted by each in its own way. Aya means soul and huasca means liana. Lian of the soul. It has been used by shamans for centuries and now also for years at the Santo Daime church and Uniao do Vegetal. Ayahuasca consists of 2 active substances, namely a MAO-inhibitor and DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) -containing plant.

DMT is a body-specific substance that occurs in all living beings. In humans, DMT is found in the pineal gland and is associated with having dreams and near death experiences.
The DMT ensures that we can "journey", but DMT is also naturally broken down by the body, so there is also a MAO-inhibitor in an Ayahuasca brew. This ensures that the MAO enzyme in the stomach does not break down the DMT.

In the Amazon area in an Ayahuasca ceremony they work with a brew of the Banisteriopsis Caapi (the liana called Ayahuasca) and the leaves of the Chacruna (Psychotria Viridis) or Chaliponga (Diplopterys cabrerana) or another DMT-containing plant or plant compositions, all from the Amazon. Each shaman uses his own unique mix.

I work with the 'vine of the soul' Banisteriopsis Caapi and Chaliponga (Diplopterys cabrerana).

Ayahuasca can be experienced as consciousness expanding, cleansing, providing insight, enlightening, clearing blockages etc. The effect is different for everyone and every journey. Ayahuasca is a plant spirit with a feminine, often motherly energy. That is why she is often called mother Ayahuasca. Her energy is incredibly loving. A journey is actually difficult to describe, it is unique to everyone at every moment. She gives you the things that are important to you at the moment and never more than you can handle (Ayahuasca guards borders).

How she can work is in a number of ways;

You can get images / visions in all sorts of forms such as colors and patterns or (drawing) film images, clear knowledge / insights or quarters that fall (like "oohhhh is it like that"), she can make you feel all kinds of things, but she can also, for example, increase your behavior. For example, if you are always more involved with others in your daily life and thereby forget yourself, that you are very focused on everything that happens around you during the ceremony and therefore not actually go inside yourself. It is often a bit more difficult to recognize because it is often a mirror of a blind spot.

She can also work very cleansing, so a nickname of Ayahuasca is "la purga" which means "purification". Cleansing can occur among others in the form of vomiting, diarrhea, more urination, yawning, tears and physical vibrations / movements.

And then the time has come, you will participate in a ceremony. But how does that work?

If you decide to book a ceremony, we first agree on a date and time that best suits all parties. From that moment on your journey has actually started. You will prepare yourself, physically, mentally and spiritually. Sometimes you might even be partially unconsciously prepared. It often happens that people who are going to participate in an Ayahuasca ceremony will experience things that are "special" beforehand. For example dreams that have to do with the ceremony, or there are things happening that have to do with the ceremony and perhaps with your intention (s). You can therefore say that Ayahuasca has made contact with you from the moment you decide to make a journey with her and she starts working with you.

Then finally there is the day of the ceremony that you have lived towards. We always start with an introduction while enjoying a cup of tea and some explanation about Ayahuasca, about the course of the ceremony and of course there is time and space for questions. Then, when you are ready, we will start. The ceremony consists of an opening ritual, 2 drinking rounds of Ayahuasca and a closing ritual. The first round lasts about 2 - 2 1/2 hours and the second round will last approximately 3 - 3 1/2 hours. So in total you will be journeying around 6 hours. I also work with Rapeh and Sananga when preferred / needed (you can find more information about these medicines under informatie en artikelen ).

After drinking the first drink you can lie down, or if you like sitting better, you can also sit down, on a comfortable mattress and you will be taken in a relaxing meditation so that you can open yourself to the contact with the spirit of Ayahuasca who will take you along and accompany you on your journey to the depths of your being, your core. Everything you need at the time of your journey will be covered, although you may wonder whether you really need what they show / feel / experience because it may not be the answer you would have liked have certain questions or intentions. Often such things have a deeper meaning and afterwards it may seem to be an answer. The advice is therefore to look at everything that Ayahuasca offers you. Some of the moments in a journey can be a bit heavy, but Ayahuasca will never give you more than you can handle. So if you are experiencing heavy moments in your journey, remember that you are really strong enough and can certainly handle it. She gives you everything for your highest good so that you can heal yourself. If you experience problems in handling such parts of your journey by yourself, do not hesitate to ask for help.

You can also see, feel and experience the most beautiful things. You can enjoy it, because Ayahuasca is not just doing some hard work. It differs per journey and per moment what your experience will be.

During the ceremony I play music, there is silence, I sing icaro's and mantras and I work with different instruments. I am guided in this by Ayahuasca, so everything happens in the moment.

After the ceremony, a light organic , vegan meal is waiting for you. There is also the time and space to share your experiences if you feel to share.

The ceremony is over, the integration can begin. It is advisable to take some rest after an Ayahuasca ceremony and not plan too many appointments. Often you are energetically open a few more days after a ceremony. In addition, Ayahuasca can be a very intense experience, which can be experienced as life changing. It is also said that "the real work" only starts after the ceremony. That is one of the reasons that aftercare has an important place. After the ceremony, you will always receive a mail or message at least once to see how you are doing and whether you experience any difficulties. If you have questions or run into difficulties or problems, please contact me.

When you have booked a ceremony, you will receive information about the preperation and advised diet. Also there will be some questions about you, your health and why you feel to participate in an Ayahuasca ceremony. Some kinds of medication or mental or physical conditions are contra indications to do an Ayahuasca ceremony. If I feel it's not safe for you to make an Ayahuasca journey, I will refuse your participation to a ceremony under my guidance.
